There is a long man made track on a high bank that runs alongside the river. Arrive before it gets dark and bring a torch.
If it has been wet recently, the track to the camp may be muddy/slippery.
Please have your wellies to hand as you will need to open 2 gates to access the track from a single track road called the Horsewalk.
THE FIRST GATE WITH THE PADLOCK MUST BE KEPT SHUT & LOCKED AND THE SECOND GATE CLOSED AT ALL TIMES!!
Please do not stray from the track as you will get stuck in the marsh.
DIRECTIONS:
FROM LONDON VIA M23
Take the A27 East towards Eastbourne/Bexhill/Hastings.
Go past Eastbourne on A27 until you get to a roundabout with a BP garage, Marks & Spencers and Starbucks. (There is only one garage with a Marks and Spencers locally)
Turn left towards Wartling on Wartling Road and drive for approximately 2 miles until you go up a hill and the Lamb Inn pub is on your right, in Wartling.
Turn right directly by The Lamb Inn. There is another turning more like a fork right further on with a red phone box. It’s not that one it’s right next to the pub.
Turn left after the carpark to the pub and down the Horsewalk single track road.
This road winds it’s way down a hill and bends sharply to the right then left.
Go over the bridge crossing the river, Wallers Haven, and you will see a pump house station and a big metal gate on the right after the bridge.
FROM LONDON VIA A21
Get to Royal Tonbridge Wells then head towards Hastings/Battle on A21. After Robertsbridge turn off A21 onto the A2100 towards Battle. Turn Left at Battle and drive through Battle town passed Battle Abbey on your right, still on the A2100, until you get to a mini round-a-bout. Turn right onto Powder Mill Lane B2204 towards Catsfield/Ninfield. Through Catsfield to Ninfield. Turn left at round-a-bout, Kings Arms in front of you, garage on left. Then turn right towards Hooe on B2095. Drive through Hooe village for about 3 miles then you will see a small single track road on the right called The Horsewalk. Turn right. Follow the lane down the hill, over a tiny bridge then along the marsh until you see a pump house on the left. The gate is there on the left before the bridge over the Wallers Haven Bridge.
Here you will need to unlock the gate using a combination number you already have from Claire. Drive through the gate.
KEEP THIS GATE LOCKED AT ALL TIMES. Even if you’re just popping back for something.
There is then a second gate. Please keep this one shut also. It doesn’t need to be locked but it must be closed at all times.
Thank you.
